CUBS MAKE A MOVE

Another BOLD move by the Cubs:

The Cubs  claimed 3B/1B Mat Gamel off waivers today from the Brewers.
Gamel has had a history of injuries, including this year's knee surgery.
He was a power number guy in the minors, but has been a total BUST
in the majors.

In 21 games in 2013, he hit 1 HR, 6 RBI, and hit .246.

In his four year major league career, in 106 games, he has amassed
2 HR, 29 RBI, .229 BA and negative 0.1 WAR.

What are the Cubs thinking signing all these washed up, broken down
and injured players?  Does Epstein think the Wrigley Field troughs
are Lourdes???!!

This pattern of signing injured players is getting quite tedious.
The team will claim low risk, high reward but there is no track record
on Gamel that he is a major league talent. He just adds another new
face to face plants on the clubhouse revolving door.

Maybe Sveum is happy to get out of town if the Cubs are going to load
up with Brewer cast-offs.

Oh, Sveum was immediately hired by the Royals!
He will be on the coaching staff.
